Arborist Reports

For construction projects with severance, infill development or site plan applications the City of Ottawa requires a TIR (Tree information report) with your building permit application,

For Distinctive Tree removal permist, a short TIR is required, and for subdivision plans, a Conservation Report is needed.

I can help with any of these projects, see below for further details on each report.

I also provide reports on Tree safety and risk asessment, as well as Diagnosis of disease and other issues.

Tree Information Report (Short)

Removal of Distinctive Trees, including those on private properties, requires a permit from the City of Ottawa. A Tree Information Report is required to submit the application, detailing information about the tree and the reason for removal.

Trees over 30cm in diameter within the urban area of Ottawa are considered distinctive.

If you are unsure whether or not your tree is considered distinctive, please see the City of Ottawa website for the Tree Protection Bylaw https://ottawa.ca/en/living-ottawa/environment-conservation-and-climate/trees-and-urban-forests/tree-protection-law

Tree Information Report (Long)

If you are planning a development project such as building a new home or putting an addition on your current home, you must submit a detailed report listing all of the trees on the property and adjacent properties that may be impacted by the work. The report must specify details of which trees are to be kept and which will be removed, as well as the species, condition and locations of the trees, plus details about preserving the existing trees during construction.

Tree Conservation Report

A comprehensive report which takes all the trees and vegetation on a development site into consideration and outlines measures for preservation of existing trees and recommendations for future tree planting.

For more information on TCRs please see the City of Ottawa website: https://ottawa.ca/en/living-ottawa/laws-licences-and-permits/laws/law-z/tree-protection-law-no-2020-340#schedule-c-tree-information-report-guidelinesInformation Report (Short)

Risk Assessment

Trees with poor form, damage or disease, may become a danger to you, your property, or to others. I can assess the safety of your tree and provide a report detailing any existing or potential hazards and methods which may be available to help prolong the life and increase the safety of your trees.

Butternut Health Assessment

Butternut Trees are considered a species at risk in Ontario, and are subject to protections laws under the Endangered Species Act. Before removal of any butternut trees you must have it assessed by a Butternut Health Assessor (BHA) to determine the health of the tree and to recommend appropriate action.

I am a certified BHA and I can help you through this process.
